This dataset displays the watercourse areas (a natural water channel along which water may flow from time to time) covering eastern Queensland. The area covered includes all the east coast drainage basins from the South Coast Drainage Basin (NSW border) to the Endeavour Drainage Basin (Cooktown) as well as the Fitzroy, Burdekin and Murray Darling Drainage Basins. The watercourse area feature is shown when a watercourse exceeds a set width and is dependant on scale of the data. ( e.g. for 25000 data, watercourses that are greater than 30 metres will be shown as a watercourse area. For 50000- 100000 data, it will be those watercourses greater than 60 metres wide) A connector feature flows through watercourse areas to create a continual linear network for hydrological modelling. Features have been attributed with name and name source where available, perenniality and hierarchy based on the the associated connector feature. Features have been captured or updated from the best available imagery with an attribute within the data describing the source and reliability. Those features within the coastal drainage basins have been captured at 1:25000 mapping specifications, while those features within the Fitzroy, Burdekin and Murray Darling Drainage Basins have been captured at 1:100000 mapping specifications.
