origin: Peter McLean owned the property named Belivah on the Albert River in 1867. He became a pastor for the Congregational Church, which started in the Albert Ferry House near Bannockburn. Peter McLean set aside one acre of his land for a church at Belivah. Later the property became a dairying property. It was established around 1867 and was owned by the Davidson family. Belivah is an Aboriginal word (language and dialect not recorded) indicating big fella fighting ground.

Coordinates amended by the Minister for Natural Resources and Minister for Mines 13 June 2003. Regazetted by the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy on the 12 June 2009 due to the council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform Implementation Act 2007.
