origin: Name derived from town, which was a name originally given in 1865 to a settlement on Yuleba Creek, which in October 1879 moved to the railway crossing on Yuleba Creek.
history: Named and bounded by the Minister for Natural Resources and Minister for Mines 20 July 2001. Regazetted by the Minister for Natural Resources and Water on the 16 January 2009 due to the council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform Implementation Act 2007. The name of the Local Government Area in which this locality is situated changed from Roma to Maranoa as recorded in Local Government (Areas) Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 2009, Subordinate Legislation 2009 No. 117 and notified in the QGG 26th June 2009. The locality was amended accordingly by gazette on 6th May 2011, page 17.
