origin: Derived from creek name. There are many creeks with this name in areas where cattle were pastured. This is one of the earliest. It is on the old Dunmore pastoral run, taken up in the 1840s by Robert Logan. The creek appears within the run on Darling Downs maps of 1864 and 1883. The locality is named for the creek [NSW Government Gazettes; J. W. Buxton; Surveyor-General's Office, Brisbane, Darling Downs Run Map, 1883; ANPS files].
history: Named and bounded by the Minister for Natural Resources 7 May 1999. Locality re-gazetted by an Amendment Notice published in the Government Gazette on the 5 April 2012 due to the council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform Implementation Act 2007.
