comments: Derived from town name, which reportedly is an Aboriginal word, Kabi language, indicating red flowering kurrajong tree, or alternatively the white or red flowering ti tree. District named and bounded by Governor in Council 27 July 1991 and redefined by Governor in Council 12 August 1994. Another possible link is to the tallow wood tree. Petrie gives "tea tree bark". Refer C.C. Petrie. Tom Petrie's reminiscences of early Queensland. Brisbane, 1904, p.316. Regazetted by the Minister for Natural Resources and Water 4 July 2008. Regazetted by the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade on the 19 November 2010 due to the council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform Implementation Act 2007. Re-gazetted on the 10 January 2014 due to council de-amalgamations under the Local Government (De-amalgamation Implementation) Regulation 2013.
