origin: Originally requested by Pine Rivers Shire Council to be named Camden Park but rejected because Camden Parks is widely used in Australia. Arana Hills proposed and accepted. Reportedly "arana" is the aboriginal name for welcome, language and dialect unknown.
history: Named by Minister for Public Lands and Irrigation 1 January 1963, as a locality. Redefined by Queensland Place Names Board 1 August 1972. Named and bounded by Minister for Survey and Valuation 17 November 1979. Boundaries adjusted by the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Water, 17 February 2006. Coordinates adjusted by the Minister for Natural Resources and Water 16 March 2007. Regazetted by the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy on the 19 June 2009 due to the council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform Implementation Act 2007. The boundary between Arana Hills and Everton Hills was amended by CHQ022459/970, effective from 16th April 2015.
