origin: Derived from town name which was reportedly a Waka language word indicating stunted scrub. Name used for a pastoral run held in the early 1850s by Pollet Cardew. history: Named and bounded by Minister for Natural Resources 30 January 1998. Regazetted by the Minister for Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade on the 02 February 2010 due to the council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform. The boundary between Memerambi and Wooroolin was amended by CHQ022459/971, effective from 16th April 2015.
