origin: Named derived from parish and town, which was named by Governor of New South Wales 13 March 1854 (Refer NSWGG 14 March 1854) and named after one of the towns called Dalby in the United Kingdom. They are located on the Isle of Man, in Leicestershire, in Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire. All have the approximate derivation of village in a valley (by and dale).

Regazetted on 9 December 2011 due to council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform Implementation Act 2007.
